Ajay is the our lovely hair and make-up guru for our recent SHE raw collection fashion shoot. This is her story.
1. How do you decide what look will work ?
When deciding what will work it often depends what the director/photographer/designer wants the shoot to look like. Makeup artists don’t always have a say of what the final look will be so we stick to the brief given to us, but then adding a bit of my own flare to it.
2. What is one product you would never go without?
One product I could not live without is false lashes!! I love them to pieces! They help complete any look, enhance the shape of the eye and give a really glam look when finished.
3. What is your number one fashion tip in terms of hair and beauty?
My number one tip – always use a primer on your skin before you apply any makeup. As they say, not to prime is a crime!! It helps give your base something to stick to and helps to even out the product as it is applied to the skin.
4. Who has been the most exciting client to work with?
My most exciting client has probably been my mum. That might seem a bit boring but when she asked me to do her makeup for an event, it confirms to me that someone I’m very close to trusts me enough for something so special. I have to say she is probably my biggest fan too!
5. Have you ever had any crazy demands or requests?
I haven’t had too many crazy request or demands. These days I have to be prepared for anything! But I did do a ‘TV variety show’ that was set in hell and had to make everyone look like they were dead or damned. It was actually a lot of fun.
